Avcılık insanoğlunun çağlar boyunca önemli bir faaliyeti olmak sıfatıyla edebiyatta ve sair sanat çalışmalarında çoktandır yerini almış bulunmaktadır. Şiirler, romanlar, hikâyeler, masallar, söylenceler ve filimler bize avcılıkla ilgili birçok sahneler sunarlar. Modern romanlardaki yasak avcılığa da, anılan yapıtlarda rast gelinir. Edebiyat ve sanat sosyolojisi açısından bakıldığında; muhayyilenin ürünü yapıtlar, gerçek hayatı aksettirme ve aydınlatmakta elbette önemlidir. Çok sayıda ilgili çalışmanın topyekûn bir listelemesi bir tek makalenin hacmini çoktan aşan fevkalâde yüklü bir küme oluştururdu. Bunu yapmak yerine, yalnızca benzerlerinden ibaret bir örneklem üzerine atıflar yapılmıştır. Tabiî ki anılan özgül çalışmalar; yazarın son seneler zarfında gerçekleştirdiği okuma saatleri ve seyrettiği filmler ile kaimdir. Fikirleri takip eden daha da ileri çağrışımlar; kaynakça öncesinde notlar hâlinde ayrıca sunulmuştur. Okuyucu adına makaleyi daha haz verici kılmak adına; birtakım görseller de sayfalar arasına serpiştirilmiştir.
Hunting is an important activity of man since ages and as such, it has long taken its place in literature and other artistic works. Poems, novels, short stories, fairy-tales (märchen), legends and movies provide us with countless episodes dealing with hunting. Poaching (illegal hunting) of the modern times is also encountered in the mentioned works. Fiction is indeed significant in reflecting and illuminating the real life, when considered from the perspective of sociology of literature and fine arts. Obviously, listing an entire collection of numerous works involved would constitute an immense set far too large for the volume of a single article. Instead; here, merely a sample of similar examples are alluded to. Those specific works are naturally the ones which the author have come across, along his course of reading hours or movie-watching sessions, during recent years. Some mental associations deriving from a succession of further ideas are provided separately in the form of endnotes, before the list of references. Some visual material is also inserted among the pages, which is meant to render the article more enjoyable for the reader.
