AN ANALYZE OF THE ESSENTIAL FEATURES IN CHILDREN'S LITERATURE WORKS BY THE EXAMPLE OF UMBERTO ECOS TRE RACCONTI


Fairy tales, which constitute the first example of oral literature, play a major role for the reading habit, psychological and social development of children. The works included in children's literature, which can be considered as a continuation of these, also have an important role in child development and educational life. Therefore, these works must also have certain features. While some basic qualities such as illustration, page and cover design of the text, font size, binding in children's literature works are listed as features related to outer structure; The choice of subject, language and style features, how which hero is presented to its reader or the fiction of the work are also related to the internal structure. In this study, the features of good and acceptable children's books related to inner and outer structure are examined in the example of Umberto Eco's tale book called “Tre Racconti”. The aim of the study is to determine the place and importance of the Eco’s book in the field of children's literature with the analysis of the book in question, given by combining the fantastic and science fiction features of Umberto Eco, who emerged as a scientist and novelist. In the field of children's literature, the characteristics of the internal and external structure stated in various sources formed the theoretical background of the study and it was concluded that Eco's work meets the qualifications sought in children's literature texts in line with this method.
