Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de İnönü Dönemi’nde (1938-1950) orta düzeydeki mesleki ve teknik eğitimin gelişimini okul, öğrenci ve öğretmen sayıları üzerinden ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda ilk öğretmen okulları, meslek öğretmen okulları, kız ve erkek sanat okulları ile enstitüleri, ticaret ve ziraat okulları, köy enstitüleri ve diğer mesleki eğitim kurumları incelenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel tarihsel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak, doküman analizi yoluyla Devlet Arşivleri Başkanlığı Cumhuriyet Arşivi, Maarif İstatistikleri, Millî Eğitim Meslek, Teknik ve Yüksek Öğretim İstatistikleri, Talim ve Terbiye Kurul Kararları, Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı Tebliğler Dergisi ve ilgili araştırma eserlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen nicel veriler grafik ve tablolar aracılığıyla karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, İnönü Dönemi’nde mesleki ve teknik eğitim kurumlarının sayısında, öğrenci ve öğretmen mevcudunda önemli değişimler yaşandığı ve mesleki ve teknik eğitimin eğitim sistemi içerisindeki kapsamının genişlediği ortaya konulmuştur.
This study aims to examine the development of secondary-level vocational and technical education in Turkey during the İnönü Period (1938–1950) based on the numbers of schools, students, and teachers. In this context, primary teacher training schools, vocational teacher training schools, girls’ and boys’ vocational art schools and institutes, commercial and agricultural schools, Village Institutes, and other vocational education institutions were examined. The study employed a qualitative historical research design and utilized document analysis to examine the Republican Archives of the Presidency of the State Archives (Devlet Arşivleri Başkanlığı Cumhuriyet Arşivi), Maarif İstatistikleri, Millî Eğitim Meslek, Teknik ve Yüksek Öğretim İstatistikleri, Talim ve Terbiye Kurul Kararları, Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı Tebliğler Dergisi and relevant scholarly studies. The quantitative data obtained were comparatively analyzed through graphs and tables. The findings reveal that significant changes occurred in the number of vocational and technical education institutions, as well as in student and teacher enrollment, during the İnönü Period, and that the scope of vocational and technical education within the Turkish education system expanded during this period.
