Dil, aktif olarak konuşulduğu coğrafyalarda ve devirlerde yaşamın dinamikliğine bağlı olarak ses, yapı ve bununla beraber anlam değişimlerine uğrar. Dilin kelime hazinesini oluşturan hâlihazırdaki sözcükler, zamanla belli ihtiyaçlar çerçevesinde yeni kavramları açıklar. Kelimelerin çeşitli etkenler neticesinde, temel anlamlarıyla bağlantılı yeni kavramları anlatır olması durumu çok anlamlılık (polisemi) olarak tanımlanır. Türkçede sık kullanılan eylemlerin çoğu, çok anlamlı sözcük niteliğine sahiptir. Bu eylemlerden biri de Türkçenin ilk metinlerinden itibaren polisemik yapı gösteren tüş- eylemidir. Bu çalışma, Harezm Türkçesi döneminin Kısasü’l-Enbiyâ, Nehcü’l-Ferâdis, Hüsrev ü Şîrîn, Keşfü’l-Hüdâ, Mu’înü’l-Mürîd ve Mukaddimetü’l-Edeb adlı eserlerinde 495 kez kullanılmış olan tüş- eyleminin bağlam doğrultusunda kazandığı anlamlarının tespiti üzerinedir. Bu anlamda eylemin adı geçen eserlerden tespit edilen 37 anlamı ve 72 farklı birleşik yapıda edindiği deyimleşmiş anlamları tanıklarıyla verilmeye çalışılmıştır.
Language undergoes some changes in terms of semantical as well as phonetical and morphological depending on the dynamics of life in geographies and ages in which it is actively spoken. Existing words that make up the vocabulary of the language explain new notions within the scope of some needs in time. The fact that words describe new concepts related to their basic meanings as a result of various factors is explained as polysemy. Most of the frequently used verbs in Turkish have a polysemic structure. One of these verbs is the verb tüş-, which is a word in polysemous characteristics since the first texts of Turkish. This study is on the detection of the meanings, gained with context, of the verb tüş- which is used 495 times in Kısasü’l-Enbiyâ, Nehcü’l-Ferâdis, Hüsrev ü Şîrîn, Keşfü’l-Hüdâ, Mu’înü’l-Mürîd and Mukaddimetü’l-Edeb which are Khwarezm Turkish texts. In this sense, 37 meanings of the verb and its idiomatic meanings acquired in 72 different compound structures detected in aforementioned texts were tried to be given with examples.
