Tarihin her döneminde önemli bir yerleşme merkezi olan Harput, bölgesinin bir ilim ve irfan yuvası olmuştur. Türk Kültürünün şeçkin bir örneği olan Harput’tan yüzyıllar boyunca birçok manevi şahsiyet, ilmi ve edebi şahsiyet, bestekâr ve müzisyen, askeri ve siyasi şahsiyet yetişmiştir. Harput’un yetiştirdiği ilmi ve manevi şahsiyetlerden biride Dellalzâde Müftü Hacı Mehmet Efendi’dir. Dellalzâde Müftü Hacı Mehmet Efendi, 1805 yılında Harput’ta doğmuştur. Harput ve İstanbul’daki tahsil hayatından sonra Harput’ta Süleyman Paşa Medresesi müderrisliğine tayin edilmiştir. Müderrislik görevinin yanı sıra uzun yıllar Harput ve Mamuretülaziz Vilâyeti Müftülüğü görevinde bulunmuştur. Bu arada birçok talebe yetiştirmiştir. Dellalzâde Müftü Hacı Mehmet Efendi, 1900 yılında Harput’ta vefat etmiştir. Bu çalışmada XIX. yüzyılda Harput’ta yetişen en önemli müderris ve müelliflerden biri olan Dellalzâde Müftü Hacı Mehmet Efendi’nin hayatı, eserleri ve onun Harput uleması içindeki yeri ele alınmıştır.
