Oyun oynamak; yaş, cinsiyet, meslek, eğitim durumu, maddi durum, yaşanılan mekân gibi ayrımlar gözetilmeden, toplumun bütün kesimleri ve üyeleri tarafından gerçekleştirilen bir etkinlik olmakla birlikte, oyun denilince akla çocuklar gelmektedir. Çocuk gelişimi ve eğitimi uzmanları, çocuğun “fizikȋ gelişimi, “psiko-motor gelişimi”, “dil gelişimi”, “duyusal algılama ve zihinsel gelişimi” ve “duygusal gelişimi” bağlamında çocuk oyunlarının olumlu işlevlerini ele alıp değerlendirmişlerdir. Kentleşme ile birlikte sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yaşamdaki değişiklikler, özellikle de teknoloji ve iletişim alanındaki gelişmeler, çocukların oyun oynama ihtiyacını giderme şekillerini hızlı bir şekilde değiştirmektedir. Çarpık kentleşmenin neden olduğu oyun alanlarının yetersizliği, mevcut oyun alanlarındaki güvenlik problemi, oyun ortamlarının çalışan anne ve baba ile paylaşılamaması gibi nedenlerle çocuklar, aktif olarak oyunlara dâhil olamamaktadırlar. Bu durum, bir taraftan geleneksel çocuk oyunlarının ortadan kalkmasına neden olurken, diğer taraftan çocuğu tablet, konsol ve internete bağımlı kılmaya ve yalnızlaştırmaya başlamıştır. Yeni şartların ve gereklerin neden olduğu söz konusu durumu fark eden bazı özel kuruluşlar, oyun evleri çatısı altında, benzer yaş grubundan çocukları bir araya getirerek, belirli zaman dilimlerinde, uzmanların gözetimi altında oyun oynamalarını sağlamaktadırlar. Gittikçe yaygınlaşan, hatta bir sektör hâline gelen bu kuruluşlar, 18-66 aylara hitap eden oyun alanlarında, güvenli, temiz ve nezih bir ortamda, çocuklara akranlarıyla gönüllerince eğlenebilecekleri yaşam ve eğlence alanları sunmaktadırlar. Makalede, oyun evleri, kuruluş amaçları, kurucuları, bağlamı, katılımcıları ve oynanan oyunlar açılarından ele alınarak bireysel ve toplumsal işlevleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Yapılan tespit ve yorumlarda Balıkesir’de mevcut oyun evlerinden “katılma”, “gözlem” ve “mülakat” teknikleriyle elde edilen malzeme esas alınmıştır. Yapılan inceleme ve değerlendirmeler neticesinde; oyun evlerinin, dış ortamdan izole edilerek evlere ve internete mahkûm edilen çocukları bekleyen tehlikeleri önlemek adına önemli bir rol üstlendikleri görülmüştür.

Though playing games is an activity conducted by all segments and members of the society regardless of age, gender, accupation, education, financial status, living conditions, when the word play mentioned what comes to mind is children. Child development and education specialists tackle and asses the positive functions of child games in the context of physical development, psychomotor development and emotional development. The changes in social, cultural and economic lives hand in hand with urbanization, particularly, developments in the field of technology and communication rapidly change the way of supplying for game playing needs of children. Due to the lack of playgrounds, safety issues in existing playgrounds, not being able to share the playing environment with the working parents caused by unguided urbanization the children are not being able to actively attend to the games. These circumstances, on one hand cause disapearence of traditional child games, and on the other hand, render the children depending on the tablet, console and internet while isolating them. Recognizing the given circumstances and needs, some new enterprises offer game playing under the survailence of the specialists gathering the children of the similar age groups in a certain timeframe. While increasingly becoming prevalent, even becoming a sector these enterprices cater the recreational settings to the children between months of 18-66 where the children can have fun freely with their peers in a safe, clean and decent environment. In the article, the play houses were addressed from the point of their purpose of establishment, founders, context, attendees and games played as their individual and social functions were elaborated. Determinations and comments made on the ground of the material obtained by the method of attending, observations and interviews from existing playhouses in the city of Balıkesir. As a result of study and assesments it was confered that the play houses have an important role toward prevention of the dangers children who isolated from outdoors and condemned to indoors and the internet may face.
