Öğretmen eğitimi, ülkemizde her zaman gündemde olan, hem akademik çevrelerde hem de toplumun değişik kesimlerinde çokça tartışılan bir konu olmuştur. Öğretmen eğitiminde, işin mutfağında olan öğretim üyelerinin bu konuyla ilgili görüşlerinin belirlenmesi sistemin daha sağlıklı işleyebilmesi için çok önemlidir. Bu nedenden dolayı araştırmada, eğitim fakültesi türkçe ve sosyal bilimler eğitimi bölümünde görev yapan öğretim üyelerinin, öğretmen eğitimi ile ilgili görüşleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Nitel bir yaklaşımla yürütülen araştırmanın verileri görüşme yolu ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Atatürk Üniversitesi ve Gazi Üniversitesi’nde görev yapmakta olan 16 öğretim üyesi oluşturmaktadır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, öğretim üyelerinin eğitim fakültelerinin en önemli işlevini öğretmen yetiştirmek, fen-edebiyat fakültelerinin en önemli işlevini ise araştırma yapmak ve araştırmacı yetiştirmek olarak gördüklerini ortaya koymuştur. Eğitim fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin, fen-edebiyat fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğrencilere göre daha fazla öğretmen olma psikolojisi ve motivasyonuna sahip olduklarını düşünen öğretim üyeleri, bir öğretmenin sahip olması gereken en önemli nitelikleri ise alan bilgisi, genel kültür bilgisi ile mesleki bilgi ve beceri olarak dile getirmişlerdir. Öğretim üyeleri ayrıca öğretmen yetiştirme sisteminde okul uygulamalarının amaca uygun olarak yürütülmemesini, öğretmen atama sisteminde ise KPSS sınavlarının uygulanma şeklini en önemli sorun olarak gördüklerini ifade etmişlerdir.

Teacher education in our country that is always on the agenda is much concerned area by both academia and in different parts of the society. It is very important to be determined perspectives of faculty members in education departments to make the education system which works better. Because of this reason, the purpose of this study is to determine the perspectives of faculty members who work at department of turkish and social sciences education about teacher education. The data of the study which was conducted with a qualitative approach were obtained through interviews. Study group of this study is 16 faculty members who are affiliated for Atatürk University and Gazi University. The data is figured out through the method of content analysis. Findings show that faculty members see that the most important function of education faculty is to educate teacher candidates and the most important function faculty of since and letters is to make research and to educate researchers. Faculty members think that students from department of education have got more teacher psychology and motivation than faculty of since and letters students. They also state that a teacher might have field knowledge, cultural background and professional knowledge and skill. Faculty members also expressed that significant barriers of teacher education system are insufficient training and practices, and inappropriate exam as Public Personnel State Examination for instatement.
