THE CONCEPT OF NATION, THE EFFECT OF EVENTS IN THE 17TH AND 18TH CENTURIES ON THE FORMATION OF NATIONALISM


Nationalism, which is thought to be a modern way of thinking and when it was not known exactly, has emerged as one of the most important political concepts of the last centuries. The concept of nation, which is one of the main themes on the way to nationalism, is studied in this article, which examines the types of nationalism movements that started to spread in Europe with the French Revolution and affected the world over time, and the development of them according to periods. The reason why the concepts of nation and nationalism are examined together is still to give information about the problematic of whether the concept of nation constitutes nationalism or whether nations were formed at the end of nationalism. When literature review related to the field is done, nationalism types of recent period is generally mentioned. At the same time the field work during the Ottoman Empire varieties of nationalism, nationalism contains the types of acceptable types of nationalism in the formation of the Constitutional period and Turkey. This research aims to reach the origin of nationalism and to observe the effects of events in Europe on nationalism.
