A THEMATIC EVALUATION OF NAFİ MİSKİOĞLU’S POEMS PUBLISHED IN YENİ MECMUA

Nafi Miskioğlu (1886-1947) has been one of the important names of the period and neighborhood in which he lived with his poet, writer, educator and a-man-with-a-cause identities. Especially in the liberation phase of Antakya, Nafi, with his intellectual struggle, has accomplished important works in the continuation of the Turkish culture and identity in the region. He has taken a national stance in the provision of political, cultural and military independence of Antakya with the activities of the association, the works written in the teaching and the journals. Nafi Miskioğlu, who stands out with his poet identity in literary context, has captured the originality by synthesizing the innovative tendencies of the period when he lived with the aesthetic pleasure of classical Turkish literature. Although he generally focused on national-spiritual themes and themes in his works, he did not neglect to carry the social situation of the neighborhood he lived in to his works. Engaging in the thematic elements of his poems, in this paper we aim to reveal that how Nafi Miskioğlu precedes the national, spiritual and social issues in his works.
