Abstract


STUDENT VIEWS ON THE EVALUATION OF THE SIXTH GRADE TECHNOLOGY TEACHING CURRICULUM IN KOSOVO
The aim of this study is to assess the implementation of the sixth grade Technology course teaching program implemented in 2015-2016 as a pilot in Kosovo according to the opinions of the students. In the study, case studies were used in qualitative research methods to examine the opinions of the 6th grade technology course teaching program and students' opinions in detail. The study group was selected from among the 40 pilot school students` in Kosovo schools in 2015-2016. Based on the purposeful sampling, 10 students` formed the study group. A semi-structured interview was used to collect the data of the study. The research data was analyzed by subjecting it to content analysis. Based on free coding, subcategories are identified in the main categories. As a result of this research, students' opinions on the goals are generally positive. The students' views on the programme are that the technology course is more a knowledge-based course. It can be said that the opinions of the students on the content of the technology course are not positive. Students have emphasized that some of the topics covered in the technology course must be changed. Some of the topics are liked by the students but some topics should be removed from the programme. It can be said that they are more interested in digital technologies such as new software, robotics and advanced technology in the field of computer technology, instead of learning content based on traditional understanding. The results of the analysis of students' opinion done on technology classes showed that there is not enough learning environment. It has been determined that the answers to the questions given by the students about the learning environment are in the negative direction. Most of the students stated that they need tools and equipment for technology lessons and technology workshop. These deficiencies, which students expressed, reduce the effectiveness of the learning and teaching process. Moreover, it can also be said that the program approach has had a negative effect on the implementation.
