ELEMENTS OF FOLK CALENDAR IN TURKISH AND AMERICAN PROVERBS AND GEOGRAPHIC REALITY OF THEM


Societies who are be engaged in agriculture is formed a folk calendar, which is shaped for long time, after the nature of observations and experiments. They are not written but people always arrange their life according to this calendar and the people firmly comply with it. This calendar is generally known ’’Folk Calendar’’. We can find this calendar in idioms or proverbs. In this study, it is researched events of folk calendar in Turkish and American proverbs which is said on nature that these two countries are far away from each other and they are in two different continental. In this research is continued by the content of descriptive analyze. Data was obtained by literature search and face to face meeting. When the reviewed of data, it is seen that is not exactly folk calendar events in the proverbs of the Native American people but they are accepted the part of the nature by their selves and they believe all living or listless things are created the same grand spirit. So it is understood their proverbs are intensified on protected and understood of the nature. However, they have followed some vital cycles. But it is significant folk calendar events in proverbs belongs to other society who are lived in America. When they are compared Turkish proverbs they are resembled each other and sometimes, it is seen, they are exactly cookie-cutter.
