PRESERVICE SCIENCE TEACHERS' VIEWS ON THEIR EXPERIENCES IN OUT OF SCHOOL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS


The purpose of the current study was to investigate the experiences gained in out-of-school learning environments. The participants of the study consisted of 50 preservice science teachers enrolled in an out-of-school learning environments course taught in a state university in the south-east of Turkey. They were selected based upon purposeful sampling. Phenomenology design was used to frame the study. The data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews with 32 of them at the conclusion of the study and analyzed through content analysis. Various themes were evident as a result. It was found that participants had an opinion of their knowledge and self-confidence on preparing out-of-school trips improved in conjunction with emerged themes.
