Akhsim, which has an important place on the establishment of Ottoman State, has had great influence also on Ottoman artisan and craftsmen until the second half of the 15th century. But with time, the State carried out a policy which is more strict and centralist, the Akhsim had to leave its place to guild organizations. The license and merit were necessary to rise in the guild organizations that emerged from the middle of the 16th century and were formed from a group of artisan, Muslim and non-Muslim. Guild organizations, which had a very important place on Ottoman social and economic life, were entered the closing phase first, with the negative reasons like the change of the trade routes, the failure of Ottoman artisans to compete with European traders and janissaries start to work as tradesmen, and in 1913 they are closed with a law.
