REALITY WITHIN FICTION: PROFESSOR TURAN YAZGAN AS A FICTITIOUS CHARACTER


The novel entitled Göz Açtırmayan Boran-Turan, written by Tatar author Rinat Muhammediyev is a biographical novel discussing Professor. Turan Yazgan (1938 Eğirdir, Isparta –November 22, 2012), Istanbul. The life, struggle and problems exposed to by Yazgan, who is the modern practitioner of “Unity in Language, Idea and Work” idealogy of Gaspıralı, have been fictionalized in line with the friendship he has with the author. The life, struggles, of Yazgan and the impression he has left with the author within the period of his friendship with the author are studied focusing on the novel through text-based examination in our study. Turan Yazgan with his academician and organizer identity, who the author presents to his readers through his distinctive expression is a patriot who devoted his life to servet o Turks and Turkish World. He achieved important studies to strengthen the fraternity between Turks of Turkey and outer Turks. However his being blocked from crossing Kazakh border and his repatriation on his trip to Kazakhstan is sad as well as thought-provoking.
