There are various reasons for sound events. Most of the reasons- as it is known- are related to general tendancy of languages, sound relations, the least effort law and general phonetic tendancies. In this study the term phonetic deviation is used for ‘the sound events occured outside above-mentioned phonetic tendencies, especially the ones outside the Turkish general phonetic tendancies. The study is divided in two main chapters. In the first chapter, phonetic events seen as phonetic deviations in Elazığ sub-dialects are determined. These sound events are studied under the following titles: . Consonant-vocal decoherence in terms of velarisations or palatalizations in the roots or stems of the words. . Consonant-vocal decoherence in the roots or stems of the words. . Consonant-vocal decoherence in terms of velarisations or palatalizations in suffixes. . Consonant-vocal decoherence in suffixes. In the second chapter of the study, the sound events that are determined as phonetic deviations are mapped in the order of the locations they are found. In this way, an outlook of the sound events that are determined as phonetic deviations are asserted. According to our first observations, the phonetic deviation in the region are mostly seen in the locations where another language other than Turkish is also used. within this framework, it will be analysed whether phonetic deviations have any relations with local languages/bilingualism.
