THE POLITICAL SATIREOF ISMAIL SEMENOV’SNATIONAL POETIN KARAÇAY


Karachay-Balkar Turks who hada commonoral folkliterature untilthe middle ofthe 1920s, have started to createwritten literaturesince this date. Representatives ofthe latefolk poetry such as IsmailSemen, Appa Canibekand KasbotKoçhar have made important contributions. as well as the effect of the young people who took educationin Istanbul andDagestan. İsmail Semenov Karaçay, living between 1891-1981, is one of the most important representatives offolk literature.The poet having great admiration to Karachay-Malkars culture andfolklore learned Arabic and took religious education from his young age. İsmail Semenow, who became the first in the competition held in Armenia in 1936, started to go against the Soviet Regime during 1940 and was exiled to Kazakhstan with otherKarachay-Balkar Turks in 2 November 1943 because of charge of treason and opposition tothe regime.In addition to a number of poems dealing with the longing for the country, he has become the well-known poet with the poem of “Minni Tav” (Elburz Dağı) which is considered having become the anthem ofindependence. As it is known, “Satire”, one of theimportant typesof Turkish Poetry, is a type of poem which explains errors and failures of the society in the literary language and transfers them to the society by analyzing the incidents in the sensitivity ofan artist, including facilities of the poem. In this study, we try to give information about poet’s satirical poems which caused him to be exiled and negative aspects of society which were experienced during the period when important politicians such asStalin andBeriya performed their duty.
