NASAL VOWELS IN SUB-DIALECTS IN TURKISH OF TURKEY

Vowels are categorised like consonants according to some characteristics in all the languages worldwide. Articulation of vowels from mouth or nasal is one of the most significant criterias of their categorisation. According to this, even though all the vowels are basically mouth vowels, there are secondary nasalized vowels that do not make semantic confusion in standard Turkey Turkish. These vowels are softly vocalized as a result of vowel-consonant relation while the nasal passage is open. In some Turkey Turkish accents, nasalized vowels are vocalized more specifically unlike the standard language. In Turkey Turkish accents, nasalized vowels, such as /m/ and /n/ especially /ŋ/ are vocalized by missing as a result of contraction and transfering their qualification of nasality. These vowels are mostly normalized vowels quantitatively. All the basic vowels have nasalized intermediate forms and these nasalized vowels may appear in any part of words. Nasalized vowels in Turkey Turkish accents are characteristic for Western Accent groups
