The Traces of Cropped Turkish Mentioned in the Dîvânu Lügâti’t-Türk in the Anatolian Dialects

The Dîvânu Lügâti’t-Türk, both the first and largest dictiory of Turkish and a folklore- ethnography manual, is a source for many “phonetic and morphological” problems. It is the first source for the solution of the problems seen in Turkish or other dialects. The morphophonetic event that was studied under category of “haplology” was named “cropped Turkish” by Mahmud Kashgari, the writer of the Dîvânu Lügâti’t-Türk. In this paper, we will show the traces of the “cropped Turkish” in the Anatolian dialects.
