THE WORDS THAT ARE NEED TO BE REVIVIFY: THE WORDS THAT DON'T EXIST IN “GÜNCEL TÜRKÇE SÖZLÜK”, WHILE THEY EXIST IN “KÂMÛS-I TÜRKΔ AND “DERLEME SÖZLÜĞÜ”

Dictionaries such as Lehcetü’l-Lügat, Lehce-i Osmânî, Kâmûs-ı Türkî, that include vocabulary of Turkish language directly, have been forerunners of the modern lexicography in our country. Şemseddin Sâmî’s Kâmûs-ı Türkî has contributed to the development of the tradition of Turkish lexicography with regard to its arrangement and vocabulary. In the structure of the language which is a living entity, some changes have occured depending on time and other conditions and these changes have affected the vocabulary of the language, too. Some words have narrowed(restriction of meaning) or expanded (extension of meaning) undergoing semantic changes, some words have changed for the better and some of them have completely disappeared. Today, it has been identified (as a result of a diachronic examination) that 1029 of the 29.085 (including 255 words that are attached to the next entry without giving their meaning by the conjunction ‘or’) dictionary entries included in Kâmûs-ı Türkî which includes vocabulary of the standard language of its period, continue their existence in Turkish dialects in Turkey, too. In this article, out of the 1029 entries, those which do not exist in the Turkish Dictionary have been handled and listed in alphabetical order. What type of an improvement has happenned on the basis of vocabulary has been observed.
