Consonant Deletion in Ahiska Dialect

Omission of the sounds in a word for several reasons is called deletion. Deletion canbe observed both in vowels and consonants. In this study, emphasis is put only on consonant deletion. Consonant deletions observed in native Ahiska Turkish dialect were grouped not based on the position of the deleted consonant, such as syncope or aphaeresis, depending on the phonetic phenomena such as fusion, contraction, elision, but the deleted consonant itself is provided as a heading, and the examinations were made in this regard. A special effort was made to provide information as to whether the deletions given as examples are permanent or temporary deletions for the native Ahiska Turkish dialect.
