A Conjugation of Compound Verb with Functioning Approximative Verb in Local Dialect of Datça: Structure of “-(I)k gide(r)”

Local dialect of Datça becomes prominent with the characteristics which are peculiar to itself among the local dialects of Muğla. In recent years, the factors such as proliferation of education (especially having a tendency to go to Muğla or other cities for secondary school and university education), developing the opportunities of transportation better when compared to the past, tourism’s getting more popular in the region, and media have had a negative effect to a certain extent. Especially in recent years, developing of tourism has caused a change on the dialect of the local community necessarily. It requires that both the studies of collation should be initiated and the studies of grammar should be done over the collations so that these negations may not increase more , and further, the characteristics of the dialect may not disappear. These studies are -generally- crucial for revealing the connection of Anatolian dialects with the contemporary and the old Turkish dialects. Within the context of this essay as well, conjugation of compound verb with the functioning approximative verb in the construction of “Verb + -(I4)k gide(r) + personal affixes” which we come across in local dialect of Datça has been emphasized. In Turkish, approximative function shows itself not only in descriptive verb “yaz-” but also in noun clauses which are constructed with the structure of “Verb + -mAk üzere + conjugation of complementary verb”. While descriptive verb “yaz-” is generally used with the verbs that contain negative or undesired meaning, structure of “-mAk üzere” can be used with all the verbs. In local dialect of Datça, structure of “Verb + -(I4)k gide(r) + personal affixes” which is close to this function has been determined. This conjugation has a larger meaning area than the approximative verb “yaz-”. Within the context of this essay, the fact that this conjugation of compound verb which is given in function of present continuous in some resources, together with including the meaning of present continuous, is basically used in the approximative function has been tried to be put forward with its examples.
