Supplements of Anamur Dialect to the Dictionary of Word Collection

Supplement studies are one of the most important results of dialect studies that attracted scientific areas to analyse the richness of language for many years. By the order of Atatürk, Research of Turkish Language Society (Türk Dilini Tetkik Cemiyeti) had been established in 1932 and the Society made some scientific research on Turkish language in the area of grammer, spelling and vocabulary etc. One of these studies is the study to spesify the word existence of dialect. The Society had a very important initiation by gathering many words supplemented from different places in the country and published it in “Halk Ağzından Söz Derleme Dergisi”. Supplement Dictionary (Derleme Sözlüğü) followed this magazine. Even from the Republic term to present the dictionary have shown a good development, it is hard to say that many words used in Turkey Turkish dialects are transcripted. In our rapidly developing society the develoment of the communication technologies do not bring positive effect on the dialect features. Dialects do not show resistance to time and space. For this reason it is very important in context of richness of language to collect the material of dialects. There are many words that undiscovered in the dialects of Turkey Turkish. New researches on Anadolu and Rumeli dialects, contribute to both studies to identify the word existence and to rich the Supplement Dictionary (Derleme Sözlüğü). In this study, words gathered by supplements from the dialects features which are well preserved around Anamur city and surrounding villages and not found in Supplement Dictionary and have different meanings will be handled. Words gathered by supplement will be presented classified as name, adverb, interjection and verb. The purpose of the study is to make a small contribution to enrich the content of Supplement Dictionary prepared by Türk Dil Kurumu.
