What should be the language spoken by Turks in Cyprus called?

Studies made on the language spoken by the Turkish Cypriots have proven that there is confusion about naming this language. “Turkish of Cyprus”, “Dialect of Cyprus”, “Turkish Dialects of Cyprus”, “Cyprus Dialects of Turkish”, “Dialects of Cyprus”, “Cypriot Turkish” and “Cypriotturkish” are among these appellations. There is no doubt that all these appellations are used for naming the same phenomenon. However, the parameters in their denotations and the intentions in their usage are different. Some of them are incapable of describing all aspects of the Turkish spoken in Cyprus, whilst some are causing an ambiguity. On the other hand others are used with non-linguistic intentions. The aim of this article is to demonstrate which one(s) of these appellations are suitable for describing the Turkish spoken in Cyprus.
