Turkish Words İn Kurmanci Of The Pertek Region

Language, that unifies a society by shared past and culture, is the most important communication tool, conveyer and transmitter. It survives, develops and changes together with societies. Although language changes over time, it provides abundantly materials and clues about ethnic origins of societies that speak of it. In this context, when we consider Turkish materials in Pertek’s Kurmanci, we notice that a lot of words and suffix are used in it. We can deduce two important opinion about ethnic structure of the region because of some words and suffix (kiyinç˃ kınc) are quite archaic, peculiar to Pertek region and they are only used in the region: 1. Pertek’s Kurmancis have been Kurdishcized an old Turkish society over time. 2. Pertek’s Kurmancis have been the different ethnic society and they have been close contact with Turks since ancient Turkish at least. Although it is unclear that which of them is valid, the conducted study in the region is quite enough to show Turkish’s effect on Pertek’s Kurmanci.
